Privacy & Cookie Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal data, and how this website uses cookies.
Last updated: 3 June 2026
1. Who we are
This website, thedouro.com, is operated by Mariana Ferraz, trading as DOURO ("DOURO", "we", "us", "our"), a marketing transformation practice for luxury hospitality, property and travel.
For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
- Correspondence address: 4–6 Greatorex Street, London
- ICO registration: registration pending — our number will be added here once issued.
- Contact: hello@thedouro.com
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit our contact enquiry, MAPA waitlist or newsletter forms, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, your message or enquiry details, and (where you tick the optional box) your consent to receive the DOURO Letter. These forms are processed by our hosting provider, Netlify.
Information we collect automatically
If — and only if — you accept analytics cookies, we collect limited, aggregated usage information through Google Analytics 4 (for example pages visited, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site). We do not use this to identify you personally. If you reject analytics cookies, none of this is collected.
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16, and we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects.
4. How we use your data & our legal bases
- To respond to your enquiry (contact / waitlist forms) — legal basis: our legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us, and steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract.
- To send you the DOURO Letter — legal basis: your consent, given when you tick the marketing box. You can withdraw this at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
- To measure and improve the website via Google Analytics — legal basis: your consent, given via the cookie banner. You can withdraw this at any time via Cookie settings.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers (including Google and, depending on configuration, Netlify, Beehiiv and Make.com) may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, UK International Data Transfer Agreements, or Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable.
7. How long we keep your data
- Enquiry / form submissions: kept for as long as needed to respond and for our records, then deleted — within 24 months of our last contact with you.
- Newsletter subscribers: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Analytics data: retained by Google for up to the period set in our Google Analytics configuration (default up to 14 months for user-level data).
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to our processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time (for analytics, via Cookie settings; for email, via any unsubscribe link).
To exercise any of these, email hello@thedouro.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113 — though we'd appreciate the chance to resolve things first.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes — for example to the cookies we use — we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, ask you to renew your cookie consent.
10. How to contact us
